- [While driving somewhere] The radio sucks…. (reaches for Ipod to turn on screamo) . . Ah, much better.
- Gosh, I love writing lists. Maybe I should write a list as my blog today.
- That’s a great idea, I think I’ll do it.
- As of tonight (Friday), I’ll have gone to two big time sporting events in Maryland: An Orioles game at Camden Park and a WNBA Game
- . . . Okay, so maybe as of tonight I’ll still have only gone to one big time sporting event.
- I am excited for the NFL Preseason.
- Speaking of the NFL, I hope I draft a decent fantasy team this year.
- I had fun randomly meeting a graduate professor of at a coffee shop, the other day, and discussing morality, culture, and karma . . . Was it mean when I said karma was an evil ideology . . . ? (Shrugs shoulders at self) . . . Nah. . . .
- At least in Purgatory, you know what you are suffering for, and are able to think back “Oh, yeah, I do deserve this” . . But in karma, you have no idea why you are suffering because you can’t remember your past life. . . Gosh, karma IS evil!
- I’m glad I don’t believe in purgatory or karma. They’re both evil. Karma is just more evil.
- O man, I have lots of lectures to write for my Ethics class, I had better wrap this up soon. . .
- [Slurping noise] This dark roast Panera Bread coffee sure is goood. I am glad I get free re-fills.
- I wonder if anyone will read this?
- I wonder if the people who do read this will think I’m nerdy?
- I don’t care if they think I’m nerdy, I had fun.

Just for the record…I don’t think you’re nerdy.
Thanks Pam
Haha… I found this quite entertaining
. And yes, purgatory and karma are both quite evil, but at least with purgatory you have the hope of some long-lost relative buying an indulgence in your name and relieving you of 500 years of punishment.
Ah yes, the indulgences. I’m glad God told us in the Bible what these are and how much the Church should charge for them
1. I wonder how many screamo fans look like Matt… probably not many…
2. I love write lists too… but what I love more is crossing things off the list… i think I will cross number five off of matts list
3. Random thought.. Matt’s next blog should be a poem or a song that he writes and posts audio of himself singing… screamo style
4. Orioliwhat?
5. Jealously… interesting. Ya, girls look better when they play.. even if they dont score as many points. hmmm… but im not going to assess any other off matts personality “abnormalities” because im off the clock…
6. Of course you are
7. …
8. I applaud you, but seriously… first the Jehovah Witness, now the professor.. whos next?! hide your kids hide you wife…
8b. I hope matt gets that reference or that could be weird…
9. Alesha Keys says it better… but i get what your saying…
10. I disagree (dont think your special tho… im just disagreeable in general most of the time)… One could say that Karma reflects the heart of God for Justice however, Purgatory distorts the very important and foundational truth of Christianity that states human works do not save a soul…. lesser of two evils?… Im going to go with Karma
11. I want to come to your ethics classes
11b. I hope you dont talk about karma and purgatory in your ethics classes cause i dont want the kids to learn that poorly thought out perspective.
12. Loved hanging out with you at Panera last month
13. If people do read matts blog will they think he is a nerd?
14. oh. already covered that base…
15. I wonder if anyone will read this comment
15b. If anyone does read this comment I wonder f they will think im a jerk
15c. Thats okay if they do cause matt know im just having fun and im just as bug of a nerd as him.
Laura, good comment.
Wait, which do you think poorly thought-out? karma? or my critique of karma as evil? I’m confused. I teach a lot of secular theory in my Ethics class. I want them to be exposed to other perspectives, even if I do think they are stupid–which I will tell them that as we learn about them.
I believe your critique (that I disagreed with ) to be poorly thought out based on my critique of your critique
Its cool that you teach secular theory, I think you have to so that people can learn what they will truly be faced with in a discussion outside the Christian circle.
@ Laura, I first got the idea of karma being an evil idea from a seminar professor of apologetics. Here’s his article: http://theresurgence.com/2011/06/02/apologetics-on-mission . . look under “critiquing unbelief”
You said “One could say God heart’s was karma” . .. but this clearly isn’t the case. That’s like saying “What if God’s heart was to love sin” These are silly hypotheticals (and surely do not prove karma a ‘good’–in the ethical sense–idea). IF GOD DID love sin, then he would be evil. IF God created karma, then he would be evil. But he didn’t, therefore he is not evil.
Matt, you are nerdy, but that’s is one of the best things about you! This was funny! I hope life is going well for you!
